Hey Ya'll (August 19, 2013)

Is it Monday again already? haha.

oh and it's the last full week of the transfer already? WHAT?!?
This week has been chuck full of craziness as always!...and once again I was out of my area more than in it! :/

Monday night we drove to Cedar Rapids for exchanges with Sister Oler and Sister Barker on Tuesday.  It was a a fun day full of finding and teaching, and so fun to see the work progressing there!  :)  I got to spend the day with Sister Barker, and learned so much!  She had been wanting to go knock a street for a while now, and so we started off there!  The first house we knocked ended up being a less active who they didn't know of, the second was a lady whose husband used to be a member and was wiling to learn more...it always amazes me how the Lord places us exactly where He needs us and as long as we are willing to work and act, even if those conversations or contacts don't go anywhere, it was where we needed to be.  We ate dinner with the Hesara's; who we found out I actually went to high school with Sister Hesara's nephew which is cool!  IT'S A SMALL WORLD that's for sure!

Wednesday we spent with the Mt. Vernon Sisters: Murphy, Rogers, and Wiest!  YEP! I got to spend some time with my twin Sister Wiest who came back out this transfer! :) YAY!! It was so amazing to see how fast the work is progressing in that area.  After having a rough start opening it, they now have a solid teaching pool and are getting the branch more involved, and had a baptism on Saturday!  Oh my heavens Mitchell Ann is so great!  I am so grateful I was able to meet her and feel of her sweet spirit!  She is what we call a "golden" investigator; who the sisters found at just the right time and she progressed quickly and was so prepared.  It was fun to be in her home and see her incredible artwork and hear her story...oh how I love just listening and talking with people! :)  The sisters there live with Elder and Sister Templeton in Anamosa...and boy was that a party! haha!  I felt like I was at the cabin, waking up to eggs, waffles, and bacon made by Elder Templeton and apple pie from Sister Templeton...yeah...we kind of get spoiled as sisters. ;)  haha.  It was so fun!!!

Thursday we drove back to Iowa City and had an incredible district meeting.  Elder Bailey, our district leader, had everyone pray for a specific missionary in the district the week prior and then each get up and talk about that person and how Heavenly Father feels about them and what they need.  WOW.  The spirit was so strong, and I have never felt so much love in my life.

Friday Sister Campbell and I had a trainer/trainee meeting in Davenport and caravaned down to that meeting which was fun!

Saturday... CHRIS GOT BAPTIZED!!!! :)  It was such an amazing service.  Chris' mom, Nancy, is a recent convert who was just baptized in January.  He had read through Jacob in the Book of Mormon before we even met with him the first time 4 weeks ago!  SO blessed to have met him and seen him change his life and come to know for himself that the church is true.  It reminded me of why I'm out here...to help families be together forever.  :)

I am so grateful to my Father in Heaven for giving me this opportunity to serve and help others come unto Christ.  Even though there are extremely hard times, the good always outways the bad.  I am grateful for the gospel, for our Savior's Atoning sacrifice and the strength is gives me each day to continue moving forward.  I finished the Book of Mormon for the first time ever cover to cover yesterday...and I know it's true.  I LOVE THIS GOSPEL!!! :)

Love Always,

Sister Natalia Alston
